AssignmentsThere are two main assignments for this course. The total points possible in this course are 375 accumulated from the two assignments and exams, from which the lowest score will be dropped. Each exam is worth 100 points for a total of 200 total points possible for exams. The assignments are outlined below and include their total points possible, as well as the deadlines for each assignment. All assignments must be submitted in PDF formatting via WebCT. Data Analysis Project (Due September 30th): For this project you can work in self-organized groups to analyze the data or other pieces of information (to be provided). Each group can analyze the data together and produce joint graphs and/or tables as a part of their analyses. However, when it comes to the actual writing of these reports, individual effort is required. More details on this assignment will follow. Total Points Possible: 100 Term Paper This project has three parts, each graded individually and all required. Term Paper Part I (Due November 7th): Term paper outline. You must submit an outline of the topic for your term paper. The outline should provide a title and an outline of the topic and contents of your paper. This outline should be in bulleted or outline format and only needs to be long enough to sufficiently define your topic in a manner that is clear to the teaching assistant and instructor. You may choose from the following topics: Total Points Possible: 25 Term Paper Part II (PowerPoint Presentation upload to WebCT Due before December 9th - Presentations will be on December 9th and 11th only): A presentation to all class members taking place December 9th and 11th. An informative presentation of the topic with time for questions afterward. Technical issues - no font smaller than size 16; no file larger than 5 MB. You must submit your final presentation via WebCT no later than Tuesday December 9th, however presentations must be completed no later than Thursday December 11th. Total Points Possible: 50 Term Paper Part III (Due December 12th): Format not specified, but must include text, figures/tables, and references. Paper is to be submitted as PDF via WebCT. Paper requirements are five to seven pages total length, preferable 1.5 spacing and Times New Roman, size 12 font with a minimum of three figures or tables (must also include figure captions or table decriptions) and a minimum of ten liteature references from non-web based sources.
