Dear employee,

Welcome to the office.

I realize that the attached document is your first job as a vegetation scientist for Salt Lake County in my office. Your assignment seems straightforward and your immediate supervisors appear to have provided you with the tools necessary to complete the assignment and prepare the report for the Salt Lake County Attorney's office.

I understand that you may not know how to collect line-transect data or even how to write a scientific report. To assist you, I am placing six documents at a website for your viewing.

In addition to the information already provided, I have been able to find:

a PDF copy of a paper describing Red Butte Canyon

1996 and 1997 diameter-at-breast-height (DBH) data on the tree sizes of boxelders along the stream and away from the stream in riparian regions of Red Butte Canyon; these data were collected from multiple locations as shown on the attached map
1996 and 1997 line transect datacollected from multiple locations as shown on the attached map
keys to identify plants
