Ambrosia dumosa is commonly known as Payne burrowbush, Payne thornbush, or white bursage. It is a native shrub to Utah and can be found in Washington County. It is best developed in the Beaver dam slope near Joshua trees and Cresote communities. It is in the family Asteraceae and is known as a dicot (shrub). This is a Perennial.
It needs little water and grows in the full sun. It grows to be about 2 feet tall and has small, white, deeply-divided leaves. Since this plant needs little water, the plant leaves are absent in the majority of the year due to the dry weather. It flowers in late winter to spring, when rainfall is plentiful.
This plant is highly valued by ranchers (cattle and sheep farmers) because it blooms when there is limited food and it is digestible.
