| In those regions globally where precipitation exceeds potential evapotranspiration, we find forest ecosystems. Toward polar regions we find moist coniferous vegetation, while the tropical forests tend to be dominated by dicot species. Some forest ecosystems are dominated by evergreen forms whereas others are dominated by deciduous vegetation. In today's lecture we discuss the factors controlling the distributions of different forest biomes. |
