Biome and climate relationships

Lecture Notes (1 MB)
Readings: Bailey Ch. 3 and Ch. 4
We recognize that there are different biomes or regional vegetation communities found in different locations around the world. Climate appears to be the factor governing the distributions of the biomes. We will discuss the relationships of biomes to climate and of ways of quantitatively expressing climate so that meaningful climatic comparisons can be made between different geographic locations.
