Ecology, biodiversity, adaptation, and the environment

Lecture Notes (1 MB)
Readings: Bailey Ch. 1 and Lambers pgs. 1-8
Today's lecture will broadly introduce you to the topics that will be the focus of this class. We will discuss the nature of environmental gradients and the means and mechanisms by which they can adapt. We will discuss overall plant perfomance from a systems, integrated perspective. Lastly, we will introduce the ways in which humans have begun to impact plant performance and the distributions of plants on regional and global scales.
